Baby Mail!
I posted this elsewhere, but in my new attempt to keep this blog updated, I’ll post it here too:
Paul and I made two orders for the baby last week, and we’ve gotten both. Both were from family-owned and run, Christian companies, so I wanted to put a plug in for both companies, since I like them so much :)
The first was for our birth supplies. For a homebirth, generally the midwives will have you get a box of supplies to have on hand from 36 weeks on, which usually includes things like absorbant pads to contain any mess, bulb syringes, sterile gauze, mattress protectors, etc. In His Hands
has everything you could possibly need for your homebirth, from medical supplies to herbs and more technical supplies for the midwives. They got our order to us within days, and the box included a card with a “labor prayer” asking that the baby would be born healthy and at home, with no complications to mother or baby. They can also provide custom birth kits made to a particular midwife’s specifications, so that their clients can just order their midwife’s birth kit under her name, and get all the correct supplies.
The second order was from an Etsy seller, Li’l Peeper Keepers
, for this baby wrap
. My friend Kh. Nicole has ordered two slings from her before and loved them, so I know she makes beautiful stuff (I almost wished I liked ring slings, just so I could have one of her beautiful silk ones like this one
). I love the wrap I just received - it’s a beautiful color (darker and more muted than the picture), made out of much nicer fabric than the normal commercial version (the Moby
), tapered at the ends with neat surging all around. She included a handwritten note from their family and a instructional DVD, which I haven’t watched yet. I’ve used wraps quite a bit, but I’d be interested in learning some different ways to tie them, so I’ll let you know how the DVD is once I watch it.
I love it when families can support themselves or make a second income with a home business, so I’m more than happy to support them when I can!
