I don't have problems with cloth in general and clothes - maybe because I've never had a fully disposabled baby to compare to? But the prefold+Prowrap or a Fuzzi Bunz isn't bulky at all, while wool covers are just huge. I like using onsies in the cold here (when I would use longies) because they keep their belly/back warm. I'll figure out something :) This is all why I like having a range of diapers - I can use wool at night and whenever I want, but still have trim diapers for under regular clothes.

I understand about winter challenges - shorties and longies just WERE the bottoms for us, always, and that was easy enough in a tropical climate. I got really upset about cloth diapers in general the first time around in that they made it so that Isaac couldn't wear SO MANY of Ananda and Aaron's hand me downs (like onesies, and tiny jeans, and so on...) Then I got used to it and, I don't know *shrug*

I liked fitteds better with any kind of cover that wasn't tight, while I used snappis. Otherwise I'd get a drooping corner of fabric as time passed. So like the side snapping wool covers were fine with prefolds but for almost anything else I'd rather do fitteds. Then I discovered pins and I became a prefold ninja and now I can do either just fine, and the diaper is SNUG and stays in place and I gloat entirely too much about my Skillz. I was initially too scared about pricking but once a snappi went through an old and tattered dipe and made Jake's thigh bleed that all went out the window. Incidentally, we had emergency snappis on back up when Elise was a toddler and she always complained about the tight line across the lower belly that they made (through the layers of fabric, but still). So she wanted pins enough to request them and fuss when I couldn't find them.

He's wearing the blue longies today!

I was trying to remember why I didn't use the wool right away last time, and there were some reasons, so I'm glad I have options. First, all his clothes were crotch-snapped, which made longies not work so well (although if they're big enough, I snap the shirt outside the longies). His clothes also did not fit real well over the wool, and we need a lot of clothes around here - he couldn't just be in his diaper cover. The Prowraps didn't have any of these problems, so we defaulted to those.

I really do like the wool though, so I'm sure I'll figure out how to use it more with Chickpea, and use the Fuzzi bunz when it doesn't work. I'm sure you've seen from pictures, but he wore the orange longies, the rainbow shorties, and the blue soaker ALL the time. We did use the felted wool at night for quite a while, until I got tired of him soaking through them, like I mentioned on LJ. I'll try relanolizing and putting more stuff on the inside next time and try again.

Did you use mainly prefolds or the fitteds with wool when yours were tiny?

Also, I'm really glad you're sold on wool now! I remember you as being kind of ambivalent about it originally because, like everyone else, it sounded like more work to you until you experienced it. I'm always trying to convince people wool is the way to go but they're so put off by the high initial price and/or the handwashing bit that there's no getting through.

These pictures, oh man. I crocheted those orange, blue and red longies myself and some of those things were passed down through 3 babes, and I haven't looked at them for so long! It makes me ACHE to have another one!!!!!

In answer to things I saw on lj, the Grow Me a Rainbows were Dama's. Quite a lot of the other covers came from Sara Ketterman/rainingkisses (lj), and most of the pocket diapers came to me from Jenne Burch (the_waker on lj).
